About

Hi, I'm Sara Taylor.
I am the other half to Jordan Taylor from Blimey Cow and Jordan Taylor Videos. I am a rare Nashville native born and raised, and I love my city. I have a passion for encouraging others in their creativity and am the happiest when I'm creating, which could mean doing diy home renovations to baking and cooking to painting and decorating and pretty much everything else.

I started blogging 2 years ago with my blog Blackberry Morning, but life happened and I took a little vacation from blogging. Now, a lot has changed - new house, new name, new job status, pretty much new everything! So in honor of all this newness, I decided to start fresh with a new blog!
Welcome to Saylor!

I asked my Blackberry Morning readers to help me create an About Me page
by asking me questions. Below are some of those questions finally answered!

What made you want to start a blog?
I wanted to start a blog to encourage and inspire others. I love encouraging people around me to do things that they wish they could do but don’t think they can. Sometimes all you need is an encouraging word and some practice and you might be surprised at what you can accomplish!

Favorite Colors: Dusty pink, burgundy, gold

Favorite Food: Goat milk. I know that's weird. You don't have to tell me how gross it is.

Favorite Book: The Spy Wore Red series by Aline, Countess of Romanones

Favorite TV Show: Heartland

Favorite Movie: Up, makes me cry every time.

Favorite Flower: Peonies

Favorite Season: Fall

Coffee or Tea? Coffee

How long can you hold your breath?
About a minute

How would you like your blog to be seen as/read?
I would like my blog to be useful, encouraging, and hopefully a little interesting.

Were you homeschooled?
Yes. All the way through high school!

Did you go to college?
Yes. I have a bachelors degree in Organizational Communications and a minor in Commercial Music/Recording from Trevecca. I also applied to a graduate counseling program and was accepted but never attended.

How many siblings do you have?
I have 3 brothers and 1 sister, and I fall second to youngest.

What was your favorite year of your life so far?
My favorite year until now would probably be 2006, but I have a feeling that 2017 has it topped for sure.

If you could take a month to visit anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would take a Holland America cruise from Alaska to Australia. It exists!

What is your favorite place you have visited?
Probably Calaveras Big Trees State Park in California. It was amazing!

What is your house like?
I live in a log home on over an acre. One of my favorite things about where I live is that it feels like the middle of the country but is surprisingly close to the city.

What's your favorite thing to do on a free day? Stay in? Go out? Chill with friends?
My favorite thing to do on a chill day is just have a chill day! Like just being at home with Jordan and not feeling pressured to have to do anything in particular. We recently had a sick day, and it was seriously the best day ever.

How did you and Jordan meet?
Jordan and I have a long complicated story on how we met, but to keep it simple, we officially met while having dinner with mutual friends at the Mellow Mushroom in Nashville.

What kinds of things do you save up for? (That sounds weird, but basically, what do you invest in?)
I guess you could say that I like to save for rainy days. I really don’t like spending money if I can help it. I like knowing that if I do come across something that I really want or need, I have the money for it. I hate the idea of living paycheck to paycheck and will avoid it at all costs.

What are 3 things you like about yourself?
I like that I’m good at problem solving, I like how tall/short I am (5’2”), and I like my nose. I’ve always gotten compliments on my nose.

What pets do you have?
Both Jordan and I grew up having dogs and cats and a few other little creatures as well. Jordan had a very large dog named Heavy who will eventually live with us, and sometimes we keep my parents' Australian shepherd named Lily, but we currently don't have any pets that live with us consistently.

Would you rather stay at home, go exploring with no plan, or go on a planned out trip?
Planned out trip for sure. Planning is succeeding!

What job do you have or want to have? Or do you want to be a stay-at-home wife/mom?
I worked at a non-profit music school for 4 years after college where I was an administrative assistant and a music teacher. I still volunteer as a violin teacher. Currently, I am at home to get our house in shape and to help Jordan. I plan on working again after our house is under control, but I’m not sure what I will do next.

How do you find contentment and joy?
I think the best way to be content is to be thankful for what you have. It's hard to complain while you're counting your blessings.

Would you rather be alone, with family, or with friends?
I’m a newly wed, so I’d rather be with my husband. ;)

If you had one piece of advice for people considering starting a blog, what would it be?
Be consistent! It can be really hard, so hopefully I can take my own advice!

Hey Sara! Welcome back to blogging! I don't know if this is really in your range of topics you like to blog about, but I would love to see you make a blog post on how Jordan cuts and styles his wildly curly hair. I saw you write a small piece on it on Blackberry Morning and really enjoyed it. Managing my curly hair is nearly impossible for me, haha.

Thanks and I wish you good luck with your new blog! :)

Goat milk is not gross! I like it, too. Often had raw goat and cow milk as a child. ;)

Goat milk is good! Then you can make it into goat cheese which is also yummy.

I would like to hear more about you and God. I know you and Taylor do Blimey Cow and you post Christian-y videos but you never really post about your personal relationship with God. I think it would be very encouraging to your readers to hear about that part of your life, I personally would really love to!

Sara, congratulations on your marriage and creating this new website. I have been thinking of starting up a website myself, but have been a bit nervous and unsure about making it happen. Do you have any suggestions for an unsure high school student like me?
